Body found in Silver Lake identified

DOVER — A death investigation continued the day after the body of a previously missing man was found in the east side of Silver Lake, authorities said.

The late Stefphone Powell was positively identified after Dover Police and Fire Department personnel were called to the Lakeview Drive area at approximately 1:09 p.m. Tuesday. A Gold Alert was issued after the 31-year-old Dover resident was last seen by family members on Feb. 17 and reported missing the next day at approximately 11 a.m.

On Wednesday, police said the cause of death was unknown and toxicology reports by the Office of the Medical Examiner were pending. Spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said “There are no obvious signs of foul play at the present time.”

After the Gold Alert, police said new information about a medical related issue was learned. He may have been seen in the Woodside area on Feb. 17 or Feb. 18, authorities said.
